BC CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATION

Community Engagement and Content Manager (2015 – 2019)

For the BC Construction Association (BCCA), I worked closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and industry leaders to develop plans and marketing campaigns that promoted BCCA’s strategic goals and advocacy efforts for a stronger construction industry. For BCCA’s Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP), I led the redesign and migration of the program’s website to WordPress. This project aimed to streamline the user experience for our two primary audiences: job seekers and employers. I was also responsible for STEP’s content including capturing success stories, promoting job fair participation, and managing the social media calendar. In addition to the technical overhaul and social media focus, I was a key member of the team that launched Construction Month and organized several industry events that focused on building industry awareness and connections while celebrating the sector that builds our communities.

For this role, key contributions and responsibilities are highlighted below.

Content Creation

  • Initiated the launch of STEP’s official Instagram account for a strong presence on social media to connect with a younger audience.
  • Developed a content calendar that promoted program updates, success stories, and relevant industry insights to connect with potential clients and educate visitors on opportunities in the skilled trades.

Communications Plans

  • Worked with senior leadership to craft a detailed communications strategy that targeted industry professionals, key stakeholders, partners, and government officials for the launch of the first-ever Construction Month in BC.
  • Ensured that messaging was consistent across various platforms and aligned with the organization’s mission to increase and promote opportunities in the skilled trades.

Event Management and Industry Partnerships

  • Organized several events for Construction Month including a Leadership Dinner at the museum, grants for on-site lunch deliveries, UR+ BC Symposium, and more.
  • Partnered with a videographer and various industry stakeholders to produce content Construction Month.
  • Coordinated with partners, stakeholders, and government officials to ensure that STEP’s presence at industry events was impactful during networking opportunities.
